With the fast-paced lifestyle we all live, it can be difficult to remember the proper way to manage your dental routine.  Fret not, Colson Dental has you covered.  We have 3 quick tips to improve your dental routine and keep you out of the dentist’s chair.  (Don’t forget your 6 month checkups, though.)

1. Brush the Inner Surfaces Of Your Teeth.  This is an area of the mouth that is overlooked, even by those of us who brush regularly. Because of this, it’s very common to develop cavities on the inner surfaces.  You should always brush the inner, outer, and top surfaces of your teeth as they all harbor bacteria that leads to cavities and land you in the Dentist’s chair.

2.  Carry a Brush, Toothpaste, and Floss On the Go.  You wouldn’t leave the house without your car keys, cell phone, or wallet, so why leave the house without the tools you need to properly care for your dental hygiene?  If you eat lunch during the workday and skip brushing, you have bacteria sitting on your teeth for at least 6-7 hours before brushing again.  By carrying a toothbrush, paste, and floss with you to work (or keeping it there during the week) you’ll be able to combat bacteria buildup throughout the day.

3. Replace Your Toothbrush Every 3 Months.   We can understand trying to be frugal by extending the lifespan of your toothbrushes, but after three months of use, they’ve began to lose their effectiveness.  This further compromises your dental health, which could lead to thousands in dental care.

Investing time, structure, and a little extra money on your dental routine, you can save money in the long run by avoiding recurring visits to the dentist.  One of the most important tips is to visit your dentist every 6 months for your cleaning.  If you have any questions about your dental health, call Colson Dental Group today.  We work with  insurance companies to ensure dental services are readily available to those in need.  For more information, call us at (919) 231-6053.
